Lenses

There are many different types of lenses that are available for your vision needs. Our associates will go over the lenses that are available and recommend a lens type based on your prescription and vision needs.

Single Vision

Single Vision lenses are designed for a single distance. This can be lenses for distance only or for near only. Depending on the prescription, some patients will elect to have glasses made just for computer use. For patients who have difficulty adjusting to bifocals, this will allow them to have a pair for distance and a pair for reading.

Bifocals

Bifocals are lined-bifocals. Bifocals are designed to allow a person to see far away and also for reading.

Progressives

Progressives are no-line multifocals. Progressives not only allow you to see far away and reading, but also the intermediate area (computer distance). Progressives are a gradual change from far to near and allows for a greater range of vision.

Ultraviolet (UV) Protection

UV rays have been linked to cataracts, cancer of the skin around the eyes and long-term eye damage such as macular degeneration of the retina.

Ultraviolet light is invisible to the human eye and is divided into two distinct types of rays:
  • UV-A rays are less intense than UV-B; however, UV-A penetrates deeper into the eye than UV-B.
  • UV-B rays cause sunburn of the skin and can damage the cornea and lens of the eye.

Frames

Your eyewear should be as individual as you are. Pearle Vision has dozens of designer brands, fashionable collections and exclusive lines to suit your vision needs and flatter your fashion senses. There's a great selection of children's frames and sunglasses along with eyewear accessories, too. And we'll provide free adjustments and cleanings for the life of your frames. It's our Pearle Vision Promise. Here is a list of some of the designer brands we carry:

● Anne Klein New York ● Oakley
● Brooks Brothers ● Polo
● Burberry ● Prada
● Bvlgari ● Ralph Lauren
● Dolce & Gabanna ● Ralph Sun

Antiglare Coatings

Antiglare coatings are designed to help remove the glare and reflections from lights. This can be glare from the Sun or from the headlights of cars at night. AR coatings also help reduce glare that is created with computer use.

Tints

Tints are back in style, but beyond fashion, they have a health benefit, too. By reducing light that enters your eyes, tints add comfort and reduce eyestrain.

For the ultimate in maintaining your vision during outdoor activities, insist on UV-protection in addition to your tint selection.

Color Suggestions:
  • For sunglasses, brown, green or gray work best
  • For hunting, night driving and other activities that require increased contrast, choose yellow tints
  • Activities that rely heavily on depth perception such as piloting an aircraft, amber tints are recommended
  • For office work or other indoor activities with fluorescent lighting, choose a rose or pink tint
  • For a bit of fun, add a subtle tint to your everyday lenses to complement your facial tones and your fashion sense
  • For snow sports, brown tints work best for increased contrast

Transitions® Lenses

Automatic protection that adjusts to all light conditions, Transitions Lenses protect against the light you can and can't see, and they block 100% UV radiation and reduce glare.

Whether you're in bright sunlight or in the shade, Transitions lenses adjust to all light conditions and protect against the light you can and can't see. Unlike older technologies, new Transitions Lenses are so clear indoors most people can't tell them apart from regular lenses.

Transitions Lenses are available in most single-vision and multi-focal lens styles.

Polarized Lenses

Polarized lenses are the best way to cut down on reflected glare. For driving or outdoor activities around water or snow, there's no better sun protection than Polarized! While a sun tint reduces light entering the eye, a polarized lens reduces light and filters out unwanted glare. Polarized lenses remove annoying visual distractions and allow you to see the world around you much better.
